Gordon Edward Eckel, 71, of Waynesboro, Pa. passed away, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born December 14, 1949 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late, Lee Roy and Elsie Mae (Hoover) Eckel. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Green-Staley and Beverly Durst.
Mr. Eckel retired from Grove Crane where he was a flame cut operator.
He was a member of the Long Meadow Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed history, riding motorcycles, listening to music and his favorite bands were Meat Loaf and Fleetwood Mac.
He is survived by two children, Aaron W.L. Eckel and Brittany D. Kaplan and wife Odayah ; three grandchildren, Arlene, Jaxon and Judah; one brother, Jim Eckel and wife, Sue; one sister, Arlene Embly and his former wife, Christine Wolfe-Earp.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Mark Mooney officiating.
