Preceding him in death are his parents, Warren and Judith Conner, his infant son, David and daughter, Stephanie. Greg was employed at Mack Truck, Inc. Hagerstown, Maryland for 39 years in Research and Development as an engineer.
Our life began on October 9, 1984 at a dinner party held by a friend. Greg and I hit is off that first meeting. A few days later, Greg called me and asked to see me again. The relationship was on and off again for over a year. It was Father’s Day in June, 1986 when I decided to give him a call. It was then that he came to my house for dinner and never left. In August 1986 Greg went on a camping trip with friends of his. I was busy in the kitchen making apple pies to freeze with flour all over me when he appeared at my kitchen door. He came home to ask me to marry him. So we married in a small church in Boonsboro, Maryland on November 29, 1986. During those 37 years Greg brought so much joy and love to our small family. He was my best friend, my love, soul mate and the best father in the world. This loving man could fix or make anything and I mean anything. He was a woodworker, (I have many beautiful pieces that he made for me every Christmas), electrician, plumber. There was nothing he couldn’t do so you could say he was a jack of all trades. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and would go for long rides on beautiful sunny days whenever he could. In December of 2016 Greg was diagnosed with cancer and after surgery it metastasized to the ribs. In May 2023 he decided not to have any further treatments. From that point until October 11, 2023 he suffered and our Lord called him home. My life is so empty now without him. He left behind his children who loved him unconditionally and considered him “dad”. Greg was truly a blessing in our lives. I will always love and miss him, but happy that he is home with his family in heaven until we meet again.
Family and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life on October 27, 2023 starting at 1:00 p.m at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
