Grover Bricker Sword Jr.

Grover Bricker Sword, Jr. 96, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with his Lord, on May 11, 2023, at Meritus Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Evelyn June Sword who passed away in 2018 after spending nearly 7 decades married to Grover.

Born on January 29, 1927, in Blair’s Valley, he was the son of the late Grover Bricker Sword Sr. and Ethel Leona Carbaugh Sword.

He was a 1945 graduate of Clear Spring HS and served in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the Field Artillery Division of the US Army.  

He retired from Pangborn Corp after 42 years of service.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Grover enjoyed spending time outdoors and his tinkering skills were unmatched. He could create or engineer just about anything with ease. He loved is family and cherished the time spent with them.

He is survived by his son, Terry Lee Sword and wife Deb of Forest Hill, MD; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Sword and wife Megan of Havre de Grace, MD and Brooke Suzanne Sword-Hagerman and husband Aaron of Dracut, MA and great-grandchildren, Madison and Jackson Sword, and one brother, James Sword and wife Marie.  

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norris Sword.

There will be a graveside service for our Hero on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 1pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD. A luncheon will be provided following the graveside held on-site.
