Hazel Rebecca Martin Rohrer, passed peacefully at Robinwood Assisted Living, on Friday, March 4, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Alice Mayhew Martin and Paul Grover Martin.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was married to Robert W. Rohrer for 72 years and preceded her in death in 2012.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Reeder and Ron, Joyce A. Sheffler and Pamela S. Darden; four grandchildren, Susan Reeder, Deanna Chapman and Chris, Bobby Darden and fiancé Katie Mullen, Jessie Rohm and Brian; three great grandchildren, Sophia Rohm, Clyde Rohm and Remi Darden; Cay Lynn Felton; sister in law, Martha Martin ; two nephews, Dennis Martin, Greg Martin and Kathy.
She was preceded in death by brothers, William Martin and Daniel Martin.
She was an active member of Saint Marks Lutheran Church until she could no longer attend. She took great pride in setting up a group to make the first Chrismons for St. Marks Christmas Tree. Hazel and Robert traveled to most of the United States. They ran a nursery called "Green Hill" Gardens at one time. Hazel set up the first West End Festival for St. Marks Lutheran Church. She was a house wife who helped run a nursery, made many of her children's clothing. She was an extra ordinary mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there for her community, friends and family. Hazel was an expert wine maker, who shared with all who would commune with her. One of her favorite times was when she and Robert built a cabin in Fulton County, always cooking on a wood burning stove.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev's. Stan and Stephanie Steele officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
