Hazel V. Brewer

Hazel Virginia (Carpenter) Brewer, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Somerford House, in Sharpsburg.
Born January 31, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ira F. and Lydia May (Hose) Carpenter.
Hazel worked as a homemaker.
She enjoyed quilting and embroidery.
She was a member of Salem Reformed Church in Hagerstown.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Connie May Shifflett and husband Earmon; a son, Thomas Lee Brewer and wife Carolyn; five grandchildren, Dennis Lee Shifflett and wife Karen, Debra Hansen and husband Dwight, Andrew Brewer and wife Krista, John Brewer and wife Jeannie, and Jody Brewer; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Jesse Brewer, Jr., who died on June 14, 2009; three sisters, Catherine May Carpenter, Bernice Kathleen Carpenter, Dorothy Leona McKee; and two brothers, Harold Nelson Carpenter and Donald Victor Carpenter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Steve Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hazel's name to Salem Reformed Church, 13182 Salem Church Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
