Helen Romaine Beair

Helen Romaine Beair was received into her Lords arms on April 23,2024. Born in Hagerstown, MD on December 10,1936 to Vada (Lantz) Beair and John L. Beair Sr.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and both her siblings, Arlene Messersmith and John L. Beair Jr.

Helen graduated from Hagerstown High School and got her BA degree in Education at the University of Maryland in Towson. She later received her master’s from Loyola University. Although Helen never had children of her own, she taught reading for 31 years and touched many lives. She received the outstanding retired Educator Award from WCPS IN 2017.

Helen was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served for many years teaching Adult Sunday School. She also served as a church historian and was a participant in the annual Crop Walk.

Helen was an avid supporter of Hagerstown small businesses. She loved the theater, Country line dancing, the Maryland Symphony, reading and the city market. She also took in many stray cats.Helen had a simple life and generously donated to her favorite charities and interest. She will be missed by her Nieces and Nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Twin Oaks in Williamsport for their tender care.

A service will be held on April 29, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with Chaplin Virgil Kane at Rest Haven Funeral Home 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue., Hagerstown, MD.
