Helen Belle (Swope) Via, 98, of Gaithersburg, formerly of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at her home.
Born July 14, 1915 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles V. and Nettie A. Swope.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Adam Via; and a sister, Irene Romesburg.
Helen is survived by a son,Charles S. Via and wife Nila M. of Gaithersburg; three granddaughters, Anne Via of Gaithersburg, Julie Miller and husband Mark of Poolesville, Cheryl Buratowski and husband Mike of New Market; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
