Helen Marie Wigfield

Helen Marie Wigfield, 100, of Hagerstown, MD passed peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Doey's House surrounded by loving family. She would have celebrated her 101st birthday March 13th.

Born March 13, 1924 in Perryopolis, PA, Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Trelka Majka.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Paul E. Wigfield and her son, P. Douglas Wigfield.

Helen is survived by her daughter Geri L. Wigfield, daughter in law Alice Wigfield, brother Stanley Majka, grandchildren: Erin Kline, Dana Stewart Kline (Tiffany), Kelly McKelvey (Kevin), and Courtney Maiorano (Michael). Great grandchildren: Zen Stewart Kline, Joshua and Garrett McKelvey, and Gabe, Simone and Gillian Slutzky.

She was also predeceased by brothers: William, Matthew, Bruno and Edward as well as sisters: Viola, Eleanor and Genevieve.

Helen was very proud to have served her country in the Navy W.A.V.E. unit, being a parachute rigger. After marriage, Helen was a devoted wife and mother. Affectionately known as MomMom to family and friends, she never met a stranger. Helen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, bowling and bingo. She also loved playing games with great granddaughter, Zen. Her favorite food was pierogies. She was especially fond of her special friend Randy and the Shifler family. We thank her caregivers at Homewood for indulging her love of HOT coffee with "3 creamers - 4 sugars"!

Her wish was to be cremated. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
