Howard Kenneth Mertz

Howard Kenneth Mertz, 84, of Williamsport, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his home.
Born May 9, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Chris Preston and Flora May (Dunn) Mertz.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Daisy May Mertz, who died Oct. 19, 1999; and his three siblings, Harrison Mertz, Virginia Rogers and Preston Mertz.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Howard loved to roller skate and was an avid bowler.
He retired from the Stationery House in Hagerstown.
Surviving him is a daughter, Nina Kay Petty and husband, Randy, of Williamsport; five grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife, Brittany, of Williamsport, Michael and companion, Amanda, Nathan and his wife, Jena, Joshua and companion, Dallas, all of Hagerstown, and Krista and her husband, Tim, of Waynesboro; and six great-grandchildren, Brady, Alyssa, MaKayla, Mariah, Maggie and Abbey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Howardâ??s name to Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 to defray funeral expenses.
