Howard Ernest "Pappy" "Pat" Patterson, 94, of Funkstown, Md., passed away, Monday, April 14, 2025 at the VAMC, Martinsburg, W.Va.


Born March 14, 1931 in Baltimore, Md. he was the son of the late, Howard E. Patterson, Sr. and Catherine T. (Schneider) Patterson. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by a son, Howard Patterson; a step daughter, Terri Weygant; a brother, William Patterson and a sister, Margaret Buschman.

"Pappy" was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Keedysville, Md.

"Pappy" was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he was a tank instructor. He was a member of the AMVets Post 10, Hagerstown; American Legion Post 10, Boonsboro, Md.; Korean War Veterans Association, Inc., Chapter 312, Funkstown; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 3000, Moose Legion #218; Washington County Club Association; Joint Veterans Council of Washington County, Md.; Improved Order of Redmen, Logan Tribe #155, Boonsboro; National Rifle Association and the A.A.R.P. since 1985.

He retired in 1996 as a delivery driver for H & S Bakery, Baltimore. after retirement "Pappy" continued working part time until 2017 stocking shelf's for H & S at local stores.He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years.

 Beverly Aenida (Moats) Patterson; two sons, David Patterson and Paul Patterson; four step daughters, Brenda M. Hebb, Karen Y. LeMaster, Vickie Bradley, and Patti Dixon; two step sons, Darrell L. Ecton and Kenny Prime; a very special friend whom Pat considered a step son, Randy Moats and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Regina Beard and Chaplain Sam Woolcock officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.

Friends will be received by the family at the funeral home on Monday, April 21st from 6-8 P.M. For the convenience of the public you may call on Monday anytime after 1:00 P.M.
