James Conrad Fignar, 66, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home.
Born on February 15, 1955 in Coaldale, PA, he was the son of the late Rose Marie (Macenka) and John Fignar, Jr. He was also proceeded in death by two brothers; Jeffrey Fignar and Jay Fignar.
James was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Class of '73.
He went on to get degrees from Shepherd College in '79, Hagerstown Junior College in '97 and the Command and General Staff College in '04. James enlisted into the Army National Guard at the age of 30, and at the age of 32 he was chosen and attended Officer Candidate School and retired as a James was a Lt. Colonel in the Army National Guard 29th Division, 129th Signal Battalion.
He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42. He was a life member of the Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America and was a volunteer firefighter with Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by two sons; James A. Fignar and wife Megan (Donohue) Fignar of Federalsburg, MD and Nicholas Fignar and wife Leslie Harris of Felton, PA, Granddaughter Nora Grace Fignar, one sister; Dr. Jacqueline Fignar and husband Thomas Wood, Nieces and Nephews; Erin Smith, Jack Wood, Josie Wood, Jessica Wood, Julianna Wood and Jasper Wood, Uncle Joe Fignar and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor James Gross officiating.
Due to COVID-19, guests will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
