James Boyer Gossard, Sr., 90, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born January 10, 1935 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Albert J. and Helen L. (Mongan) Gossard. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Helen Irene (Harshman) Gossard and a sister, Carole Parks.
Mr. Gossard retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Previously he had been a dairy farmer,
.He was active in local sports as an official and was inducted into the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Beaver Creek Country Club; West End Lions Club; B.P.O. of Elks, and the Alsatia Club, both of Hagerstown.
Mr. Gossard is survived by two children, James B. Gossard, Jr. (Wilma) and Cindy S. Sensenbaugh (Leroy); two grandchildren, James B. Gossard III (Krysten) and Megan N. Sensenbaugh; one brother, Terry W. Gossard, Sr. (Judy); brother-in-law, Joseph Parks and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
