James Hilmer Hanson, 85, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born June 7, 1925, in Attleboro, Mass., he was the son of the late James Hilmer and Edla (Lundgren) Hanson.
James was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Willow Brook Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boonsboro.
He retired from Review and Herald Publishing after 40 years of service.
James is survived by his loving wife, Irene E. Hanson; two sons, Stephen J. Hanson and wife, Gail, of Hagerstown, and Mark A. Hanson and wife, Cindy, of Arcadia, Fla.; a sister, Marian Brunken of Burlington, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer Nichols and husband, Andrew, Stephanie Poole and husband, Leonard, Christopher, James and Paul Hanson; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Colton Nichols, and Abigail Poole.
He was also preceded in death by one brother.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Maryland State Honor Guard.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
