James “Jim” Irwin Parker, 68, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center. He was born January 25th, 1952, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Robert L. and Margretta Parker.
Jim was a 1970 graduate of Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pa and attended Lehigh University. Jim worked for many years as a sales rep in the paint industry. He worked for Glidden Paints, Hagerstown Paint and Glass, and PPG before retiring in 2017, though he continued to work part time until his passing.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Nothing was more important to Jim than family. He lived life to the fullest and had a great love for good music, travel, and great conversation. He was an avid reader and absorbed history books and biographies. He had a wealth of knowledge that was second to none.
He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hagerstown. He had been a long time member of the Washington County Homebuilders Association having served as president for one term. He enjoyed his time as an assistant coach for his grandson’s youth baseball team in Mercersburg; showing his kindness, patience, and baseball knowledge with the youth he served.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joanne Parker; two daughters, Jessica Moreland and husband, Dan, of Mercersburg and Jill Zamostny and husband, Benjamin, of Waynesboro; one grandson, Benjamin Moreland; brother, Robert Parker (Mary Evelyn) of Midlothian, Va and sister, Maggie Hearn (Bob) of Downingtown, Pa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held Thursday, November 5th, 2020, at 11 AM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark Sandell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
