James "Jim" Robert Lemmert

James "Jim" Robert Lemmert, 87, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born October 11, 1932 in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of the late, Oren A. and F. Louise (Hanson) Lemmert. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, G. Lorraine (Ingleton) Lemmert and by one brother and sister in law, William Lemmert and his wife, Sonia "Sunny".

Mr. Lemmert received his Bachelors Degree from Frostburg State University and his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan.

He was a teacher and counselor at Boonsboro High School, principal of North Hagerstown High School and retired as executive director and assistant superintendent of schools for the Washington County Board of Education. He also served as the director of Camp Cliffside in Springfield, W.Va.

He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Hagerstown; Mountain Lodge No. 99 A.F. & A.M., Frostburg, Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland, Md., and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, No. 378, Hagerstown.

Mr. Lemmert is survived by three children, Diane L. Hart and husband, George of Canton, Ga., James R. Lemmert, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann of Chesterfield, Va. and Kenneth S. Lemmert and wife, Stephanie of Southport N.C.; one brother, Howard H. Lemmert and wife, Linda of Frostburg; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and his companion, Ruth Baker of Cumberland, Md.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions facial coverings and social distancing will be observed and no more than 60 people at one time in the funeral home.

Funeral services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The funeral and graveside services will be live streamed at rsthvn.com (click on Mr. Lemmert's obituary and tribute wall) beginning on Thursday Oct. 15th at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to Covenant Presbyterian Church or to Shriners Hospital for Children.
