Jane E. (Ankeney) Shupp, 90, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend - formerly of Clear Spring and a resident of Hagerstown, passed away from this life on Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2025, in the comfort of her home - surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Saturday, June 23, 1934, in Charlton, Maryland, she was the first born and last remaining child of the late Clyde, Sr. and Catherine (Shupp) Ankeney.
Jane worked for and retired from the State of Maryland Unemployment Office as a Claim’s Taker, in Hagerstown, until her retirement in 1999.
Known for her infectious smile, laugh, and quick-whit - Jane enjoyed the simple things in life, such as: Quilting, playing cards, playing scrabble, playing the bass guitar and singing, doing word searches and crossword puzzles, and playing the slots at Charles Town. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and sharing her wealth of knowledge regarding her family history.
Jane is survived by her three loving daughters - Darlene Shupp of Williamsport, Cathy Kline (Ron) of Fairplay, and Kristi Miles (Greg) of Hagerstown. In addition, she is survived by 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Ankeney; and several nieces and nephews.
Upon her passing, Jane was reunited with her parents; her husband, William “Sid” Shupp, Sr.; her son, William “Sid” Shupp, Jr.; and her six siblings - Nellie M. Miller, Lois Crabtree, Clyde W. Ankeney, Jr., Howard (Jack) Ankeney, Douglas (Doug) Ankeney, and Robert P. (Pressie) Ankeney. What a glorious - Heavenly reunion – that must have been!
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland. Rev. Gregory P. Shook will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service (10:00 AM to 11:00 AM) on Friday, January 17, 2025.
