Jane Georgeann (Troup) Stone, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Doey's House, in Hagerstown, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 27, 1945 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Calvin George and AnnaMary (Fuss) Troup. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, George Monroe Stone, Sr., who died in 2004; and her brother, William J. Troup.
Jane was 1963 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. She obtained a nursing degree from the Washington County Hospital Nursing Program in 1966. Jane spent 30 years of her nursing career at the Washington County Hospital. She had also worked in the Oncology Dept. of City Hospital in Martinsburg and retired from Health Ways Insurance in Columbia. Jane loved being a nurse and went back to work in the infirmary at the Roxbury Prison for a few years.
Jane was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, where she belonged to the "Moving On Club". She was also a member of the 55 & Over Community at Meritus Medical Center.
Jane enjoyed scrap booking and quilting. She enjoyed making and giving quilts as gifts for special occasions. At one time, she loved to cross stitch. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, George; especially cross country.
She is survived by five children, George M. Stone, Jr. and wife Becky, Kelly R. Bagley all of Hagerstown, Michelle Daugherty and husband Arron of Greencastle, Jody M. Webster and husband Robert of Mechanicsville, VA., Randy L. Martin and wife Kelly of San Diego, CA.; a brother, Richard Troup of Winchester, VA; an uncle, Jim Fuss and wife Susie of Harrodsburg, KY.; 11 grandchildren, Steve, Maggie, Matthew, Kenneth, Jarod, Hunter, Trey, Alexandra, Virginia, Ashton, and Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Juno, Ava, Sage, Sierra, Sidney, and Dakota; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Ch. Rd., Boonsboro, with Pastor Cindy Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends and family for a reception following the service at the church.
