Joan Elaine (Coulter) Best, 85, of Greenfield Assisted Living, formerly of Knoxville, MD, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017.
Born July 19, 1932 in Brunswick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Blanche (Kilham) Coulter.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Best; two brothers; and three sisters.
Joan worked as a homemaker. She volunteered at Pleasant Valley Elementary School for 26 years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, bible school teacher, and a Sunday school secretary during her adult life for Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Lori Zimmerman of Keedysville; sister, Sharon Coulter of Knoxville; brother, Michael Bowers of Florida; and a grandson, Zachary Zimmerman of Keedysville.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758. Interment will follow in Brownsville Heights Cemetery. Rev. Alan Smith will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD. 21742.
