Joan Elizabeth Hiner, 75, of Pinehurst, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at First Health ICU in Pinehurst, NC. Joan was born in Hagerstown on May 27, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Miriam and Ivan L. Tagg Sr.
She was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, the class of 1960.
Joan loved working as a travel agent and did so for 25 years before retiring. An avid golfer, Joan enjoyed being on the course with her husband. She also found great pleasure in reading and cooking. Above all, Joan was most happy when she was simply spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, William D. Hiner, and her three children: son Joseph P. Corderman Jr. and his wife Kristen of Niceville, FL; daughter Jodi L. Jones and Charles of Reno, NV; and daughter Jill Helm of Milton, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Matthew, Brian and Michael Jones; Heather and Christian Helm; and Jessica Presnell; her brothers Lee Tagg and his wife Pat and Keith Tagg and his wife Kim all of Hagerstown; and her lifetime friend Linda Elliott of Chambersburg, PA.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 9 at 1:00 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Rev. Jerry Lowans will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
She was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, the class of 1960.
