Joanna Dixon

Joanna Dixon, 83, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. 

 Joanna was a one-of-a-kind woman whose energy was infectious. She gave to others and always had a seat at the table for family, friends and strangers. 

 Joanna had a special love for her family and her dog and constant companion Sophie. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, gardening and decorating.

 She was born on January 20, 1941 in New York, N.Y., daughter of Mary and Vincent Schmitt. 

 Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Dixon.

 Joanna is survived by three daughters; Melanie Jennings (Scott), Mary Matthews and Susanne Matthews and a stepson, Michael Dixon. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Vincent Caiazzo, John Caiazzo, Sean McEntee, Amy Jennings and Christopher Jennings and great-grandchildren; Leanna Ratliff and Benjamin Caiazzo. 

 Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to Liz Nelson for her compassionate care.

 Joanna’s family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Hagerstown, MD and a funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church. Interment will follow mass at Rest Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joanna’s name to the American Cancer Society.
