The Life of Deacon Joe Taylor Jr.

Joe Taylor Jr. at the age of 76 passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2018 from a long battle of health issues. Joe was born on November 7, 1941 in Blackstone, Virginia to the late Gladys Guy Taylor and Joseph Taylor, the second oldest of 9 siblings. When he was 13 years old the family moved to Baltimore, MD where he attended Baltimore City Public Schools. Joe met the love of his life, Yvonne Robinson, and they were united in marriage on January 26, 1964. Out of this union, 4 children were born, Jacqueline (Jackie), Joseph, Verona, and Isaac. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather. Yvonne and Joe were married for 54 years until his death. He was employed with the Baltimore City Department of Public Works - Waste and Water Division as Supervisor and retired after 30 years of service. He accepted Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as his Lord and Saviour. He devoted his time to his faith joining the First Church of God and Saints of Christ on April 24, 1971 and was baptized May 23, 1971. He was a faithful member in the Church becoming a Deacon in 1972, a Trustee in 1975 and appointed Father Abraham in 1979. He remained a devoted Deacon for 46 years and was also honored with the certificate of a Biblical Scholar in 1981. He is survived by his beloved wife Yvonne and his four children; his sisters, Bernice, Gladys, Daisy, Irene and Arlene, and his brothers, Lawrence and McDaniel. His eldest sister Barbara preceded him in death in 2017. Six sisters in laws, nine brother in laws, one remaining uncle Wilbur Guy, five grandchildren, two great grandson's, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and church family. He will truly be missed by all who loved him.
