John Raymond Cook

John Raymond Cook, 83, of Hagerstown, Md. passed away, Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born September 11, 1941 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Robert A. Cook and Mildred (Bradley) Cook Roser. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie (Line) Cook and two brothers, Richard and Thomas Roser.

Mr. Cook was a US Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 202, Williamsport, Md.

After his discharge from the Navy he had worked at Western Maryland Hospital Center where he was a X-Ray technician; he then worked and retired as a correctional Officer at MCTC, Hagerstown; after his retirement from MCTC he worked at Fahrney Keedy Home and Village, Boonsboro, Md. as a nursing assistant; he then retired as 1st Sergeant with the Eastern Regional Jail, Martinsburg, W.Va.; after his second retirement he worked in security for Wackenhut and Securitus assigned to Citi Bank and First Data, both in Hagerstown.

Mr. Cook received an Associates Degree from HJC.

He was currently attending St. James Brethren Church, St. James, Md. and was a former member of Salem Lutheran Church, Bakersville, Md.

Mr. Cook is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Ellen (Blickenstaff) Cook; three sons, John Robert Cook (Dawn), Zachary Cook and Daniel Cook (Hannah); three daughters, Donna Wolff, Christine Montgomery (Mark) and Madison Dodson (Seth); one brother, Don Cook (Debi); three sisters, Marilyn Cook, Eleonore (Cook) Taylor and Roxanne Crist; two grandchildren, Jason Wolff and Eric Montgomery; and his former wife, Diana (Gossard) Cook.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Joshua McClain and Pastor Don White officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M.
