John Edward Slocum, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Doey's House, Hagerstown.
Born March 17, 1938 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late, Hubert Earl and Lumar (Myers) Slocum.
Mr. Slocum was a US Army veteran and a member of the Army Reserves.
He was an insurance salesman retiring from American General. After retirement he had worked as a desk clerk for Motel Six, The Clarion and Super Eight Motels, all of Hagerstown.
Mr. Slocum attended Good Shepherd Ministries, Hagerstown and he was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia L.(Smith) Slocum; three children, Mike Slocum, Sharon Slocum and Scott Slocum; nine grandchildren, Dave Slocum, Hank Mills, Jessica Slocum Brown, Travis Kessell, Drake Kessell, Ryn Best, Lydia Slocum, Rexton Slocum and Zoey Slocum; two great grandchildren, Henry Mills IV and Gavin Mills.
At his request he will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
