John Edward Wingerd
John (Johnny) Edward Wingerd, 62, of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born December 20, 1951, he was the son of Vivian Ameila (Spence) Carter of Hagerstown and the late George Martin Wingerd.
He worked as a master electrician for Alcoa Aluminum Co.
Johnny enjoyed attending and coaching his children and grandchildren's sporting events, fishing and cooking. He was a member of Hub City Vineyard Church in Hagerstown, USW 7886 AFL-CIO, SOL Funkstown Legion, and a member and coach of Funkstown Legion Baseball.
Johnny is survived by a son, Ryan Wingerd and wife Wei-Chi of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Alec M. Wingerd of Waynesboro and Jason Bart Wingerd of Greensboro, NC; seven sisters, Linda Brown and husband Joe of Hagerstown, Mary Ann Forcino and husband Don of Chewsville, Barb Wolford of Greencastle, Denise Jenkins, Jane Fotta, Joanie Moser, Angie Keyes and husband Rick, all of Hagerstown; the mother of his children, Sara Peters of NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Bart Jason Wingerd; and two sisters, Ora Lee Wingerd and Cheryl Lynn Wingerd.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Hub City Vineyard Church, 11000 Bower Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Chris Schlotterbeck officiating. Inurnment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
