John A. (Jack) Martin, passed away at Homewood of Williamsport Assisted Living. Son of George and Edna Martin, husband of Martha E. (Betsy) Cannen, brother of William F. (Bill) Martin. Survived by his son, James C. (Jim) Martin.
Graduate of St. Mary's High School, Hagerstown and veteran of WW II serving as an airplane crew chief in the U.S. and Germany. He then attended Mt. St. Mary's College earning a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
Recruited by the Burroughs Corp. he moved to Baltimore. Married and remained in Baltimore over 60 years. After 30 years retired as controller of the Waters Co., a wholesale distributor of automotive equipment.
Jack and Betsy toured most of the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe.Returned to the Hagerstown area to enter Homewood Retirement Village. Initially in independent living before moving to assisted living.
After retirement Jack served 20 years as sacristan at Immaculate Conception Church in Towson and volunteered delivering food for Meals on Wheels.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave. Hagerstown.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown at 2:00 P.M.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to mass.
Rest Haven Funeral Home Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to the Homewood Foundation, Inc., P.O.Box 250, Williamsport, MD 21795
