John Richard Forrest

John Richard Forrest, 93, of Hagerstown, passed away, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his home.
Born July 21, 1924 in Funkstown, Md. he was the son of the late, Edgar Blaine and Ada Mae (Shyeley) Forrest. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Etheline (Covington) Forrest; two brothers, Edgar M. Forrest and Charles R. Forrest; three sisters, Carrie M. Forrest, Naomi Rankin and Lelia M. Steen.
Mr. Forrest was an US Army veteran.
He retired as a contractor for Better Homes, Inc.
His hobbies include wood working, traveling and home improvements, watching sports on TV, cooking and baking.
Mr. Forrest is survived by three daughters, Joyce Mae Forrest of Buford, Ga., Virginia Lee Forrest of Keedysville, Md. and Shelby Jean Weddle of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and his dear friend and caregiver, Judy Marie Henson of Hagerstown.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to services at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
