John Robert Norris, Sr., 64, of Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 3, 1949, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Robert Carlton Sr. and Clara Catherine (Barnhart) Norris.
He was in the roofing business for more than 35 years.
John is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Charlene Ruth (Baker) Norris.; a daughter, Milly Norris and companion Ike Gaddis; three sons, John R. Norris, Jr., Don Don Norris, David Norris and wife Tina all of Hagerstown; seven sisters, Dixie Gaver and husband Robert, Linda Young and husband James, III, Barbara Shank, Carol Kane and husband Dave, Wanda Kaufman and fiancé Todd McCall all of Hagerstown, Cindy Wagner and husband Robert of Funkstown, Diana Fiegley and husband Fred of Chambersburg; four brothers, David "Tuck" Norris and wife Robin, Christopher Norris and companion Tammy all of Hagerstown, Robert "Bobby" Norris, Jr. and companion Sue Rooney ; and Thomas Norris all of Hastings, FL.; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Alan P. Norris.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 the AmVets Post No. 10, 770 Frederick St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Kenneth Harris officiating. Inurnment will be private.
Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
