Josephine A. Zimmerman

Josephine "Josie" A. Zimmerman, 99, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at her home.

Born on December 2, 1923, in Charles County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Benedict and Marie Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Raymond Zimmerman; stepdaughter, Ella Jane Buckingham; granddaughter, Marja Riccio; one sister and two brothers.

She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School and attended Hagerstown Business College for a year. Josie was an administrative secretary at the Job Development Center for the Washington County Board of Education.  In her spare time Josie enjoyed golfing as well as gardening. She was a member of the Fountain Head Country Club as well as the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary.  Additionally, she was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Josie is survived by stepdaughter, Marie Byers; 6 grandchildren, Duane Byers, Stephen Byers, Susan Sowell, Tamie Vojtesak, Barbara Buckingham Hayes, and Janice Perry; 14 great grandchildren, Jack Byers, Max Byers, Isabelle Byers, Dahlia Byers, Janet Fish, Charis Colley, Jonathan Perry, Matthew Perry, Meredith Riccio, Meghan Riccio-Brezina, Adam Rehak, Josiah Rehak, Elizabeth Tullis, and Hannah Rehak; niece, Kay Mufalli; nephew, Hap Ehringer; great niece, Linda Woolson; and two great nephews, Leonard Adams and Joseph Adams.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W Washington St., Hagerstown, 21740. A viewing will be held at 9:30 A.M. at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Josie may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
