Joshua David Butler

Joshua David Butler, 38, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Hagerstown MD. Born September 18, 1985, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to the parents of David Butler, and Carrie Walters (Hill).

Josh dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, where he honed his skills and character over a decade-long career before retiring. 

Josh was an avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching games, and was particularly devoted to the Washington Commanders. His passion for sports mirrored his spirited approach to life, as he often shared lively discussions about his favorite teams with those around him. Josh took immense pride in his accomplishments, not only as a soldier but also as a hero. As an organ donor, he made the noble decision to help save the lives of four individuals, leaving an indelible impact that will be felt by many.

 In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother Kathy Butler, his stepfather Darrell Walters, his son; Jared Butler, his sister; Ashley Orr (Mike), his aunts; Vicki Butler McKenzie, Vicki Hutzell, and Diane Allen (Charlie), his mother-in-law; Karen Kanzler (Mike), and numerous cousins.

 Josh was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Candice Butler, and his infant son, Joshua David Butler Jr. 

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. 

The family has entrusted Rest Haven Funeral Home with the arrangements.
