Joyce Estella Carey

Joyce Estella Carey, 91, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Complete Care of Hagerstown.

Born May 3, 1933 in Luray, Virginia she was the daughter of the late, Walter Eyler and Dolly (Strickler) Shank. In addition to her mother she also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Carey; one daughter, Lee Ann Henson; one granddaughter, Angie Henson and two siblings, Vance Eyler and Jean Snook.

Mrs. Carey had worked as a sales associate for Highway Furniture, Hagerstown and she was owner and operator of the Smithsburg Tastee- Freez.

She was a life long member of Washington Square United Methodist Church, Hagerstown where she was active in many Methodist Women's organizations.

Mrs. Carey is survived by two sons, Robert D. Carey (Dena) and Steven C. Carey; one daughter, Amy S. Carey (Brian); four grandchildren, Kelly Henson, Matthew Carey, Derek Carey and Valerie Rhoton; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Gary and Ronnie Eyler and one sister, Doris Horst. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's name to Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740
