Joyce Olive Barnes, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at her home.
Born September 14, 1928 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, James Stewart and Violet Irene (Harris) McNairn. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Lester Andrew Barnes; a grandson, Eric Barnes; two sisters, Bonnie Plank and Antoinette Morningstar; two brothers, Floyd and Frank Riffee.
Mrs. Barnes was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church, the Funkstown American Legion Auxilliary, Hagerstown Elks, Red Hat Ladies, Christian Womens Club, Phone Pioneers and the West End Ladies.
Her hobbies included gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by three children, Lester Alan Barnes and wife, Jill of Longs, SC, Conway Stuart Barnes and wife, Barbara of Smithsburg and Bonnie Belinda Owens and husband, Ed of Hagerstown; two grandsons, Brenton and Lester Barnes; one great grandson, Caleb Barnes; one brother, Conway McNairn of Hagerstown and one sister, Audrey Bussard of Williamsport.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
