Judith "Judy" Flexser Gould, 77, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her home.
Born June 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Allen N. and Blanche (Borten) Flexser.
Judy was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School and Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language, cum laude. Upon college graduation, Judith worked at the French Cultural Embassy in New York, and subsequently as a staff editor at a major publishing house in New York, NY and at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. As a return-to-work mother, Judy became a small business owner of ResumesPlus in Hagerstown.
Judy was an accomplished pianist and participated in vocal choirs while her children were young. She was also a longstanding member of Fountain Head Country Club where she was an avid tennis player. Other interests included reading and politics, and she was a consistent election volunteer. She instilled a love of music, literature and political humor in her children, and her interest in the arts and in social justice issues remained strong throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Gould, who died in 2010.
She is survived by her brother, Steven Flexser of Oakland, CA and her three children: Jennifer (and Daniel) Lidar of Pasadena, CA and their daughters Abigail and Nina; Laura Gould (and Lee Morakis) of New York City, NY and their daughters Olivia and Claire; and David (and Kate) Gould of Denver, CO and their sons Jackson and Nathaniel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
