Kenneth Harrison Kimble

May 2, 1925 — January 29, 2022

Kenneth Harrison Kimble, 96, formerly of Maugansville, Md., and residing in Homewood of Williamsport, passed into his Heavenly Father's arms on January 29 to join his wife, Ruth Evelyn Kimble.

Born on May 2, 1925, in Hamilton, Ohio, he grew up near Petersburg, W.Va., the son of the late, Adam and Louvene Kimble. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on June 10, 2021, two sisters, Mildred Cook and Vera Ours, and a brother, Ronald Kimble.

Kenneth was a devoted, loving husband of 74 years to Ruth and a caring, wonderful Christian father to his two daughters. He was a member of the former Grace Brethren Church where he served for many years as deacon, trustee, usher and financial officer. Until recently, he regularly attended Paramount Baptist Church.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy on board the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Intrepid, as a gunner from 1943-1946.

His career was in computer programming first at Fairchild Aircraft from 1950-1972 and then at Ft. Ritchie from 1972-1988. After retiring he worked part time at various companies: Maugansville Lumber Company, Sears, and Lowes in Hagerstown.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Buchanan (husband Darrel "Bud") and Brenda Myers, both of Maugansville. He has three grandchildren, Darrel "Bucky" Buchanan (wife Leann), Amber Myers and Travis Myers, and three great grandchildren: Makayla, Savannah, and Deacon Buchanan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Josh Fields officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Kenneth's name to Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
