Kenneth Richard Peters

Kenneth R. "Ken" Peters, 89, of Hagerstown, Md, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 peacefully at his home. In his own words, "he lived a beautiful life".
Kenneth was born on April 23, 1928 in Cornwall, England to the late Dorothy (Brown) and Richard Peters. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is also preceded in death by a sister Olive Clatworthy of Cornwall.
Ken was a flight mechanic in Egypt and England from June 1946 thru Feb. 1953.
He immigrated to the United States in 1963 and became a naturalized citizen in 1980 in Baltimore, MD.
Ken came to Hagerstown in 1974 to work for the Pangborn Corp. and retired as Plant Manager in 1991.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marjorie Peters; daughters Beverley Fielding and husband Walt of OK, Megan Taylor and husband Mike of Colorado, and Shannon Shadrach and husband Stephen of Hagerstown; grandchildren Christopher Fielding of OK, Megan Robertson and husband Stephen of OK, Jessica Hunt and husband Sean of Hagerstown, Tyler Shadrach of Hagerstown and Stephanie Taylor of CO; great grandsons Brayden James Hunt and Holden Kenneth Hunt, both of Hagerstown; sister Winifred Bond of Willshere, England; and many nieces and nephews in the United States and England.
A memorial service will be held on September 13, 2017 at 11:00am at Grace United Methodist Church 712 W. Church St. Hagerstown. Interment will be held privately in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 5-7pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at Grace United Methodist Church 712 W. Church St. Hagerstown MD 21740 or the Washington County Humane Society 13011 Maugansville Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21740.
