Kitty Delores (Hurd) Kline, 87, of Hagerstown, affectionately known as "Miss Kitty", went to be with the Lord at the home of her daughter, Wednesday, October 30, 2019. She now joins her loving husband of 53 years, Gail "Cup" Kline, who died in 2001.
Born October 13, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Elmer L. Hurd, Sr. and Gladys P. (Weyant) Hurd. In addition to her parents and husband, Kitty was also preceded in death by her sister and sewing partner, Sharon Diebert; and brothers Jessie J. R. Hurd, Sr. and Roger Hurd.
Kitty was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Williamsport. After the passing of her husband, she became a volunteer at the Community Free Clinic. She was also a member of the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered with the Repeat Performance Thrift Shop. Kitty volunteered her time with the Washington County Public Schools at Clear Spring Elementary. She also found time to volunteer with the American Red Cross as well as working many years as a check-in judge for the Washington County Board of Elections.
She was an excellent seamstress and once owned her own business called "Kitty's All Around Sewing". Caring for her family and beloved husband was the most treasured position she held.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Laura A. Kline Hott and husband Roger of Clear Spring; two granddaughters, Milissa A. Sibley and Emilee G. Feaster; five great-grandchildren, Craig Clopper, Dr. Lisa Ruby of Zurich, Switzerland, Joshua, Madeline, and Ethan Feaster; a brother, Elmer L. "Jim" Hurd, Jr.; five sisters, Gloria Heard of York, PA., Sandra Miller and husband Leon, Nellie Sodergren, Jenny Smith and husband George, Dinah Palladino; two foster children, Ricky and Ronnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 15251 Falling Waters Rd., Williamsport, MD 21795 with Pastor Mark Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 PA Ave., Hagerstown.
