Krista Kay "Deda" Fletcher, 62, of Hagerstown passed away, Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center, Hagerstown.
Born July 8, 1956, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Sally Lou Brining. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Karen Sue Fletcher.
Krista retired with 31 years of service with the Department of Health and Human Services Division of Prevention, Traumatic Stress and Special Programs in Rockville, MD. She was instrumental in creating the National Suicide Hotline. She was awarded many certificates and plaques throughout her career.
She was a member of the Acorn and Leaf Club for collectors of Charming Tales figurines. She loved going to the many special events, signings, and even a cruise with her best friend of many years, Mark McAfee.
Deda will be remembered for her good humor, infectious laugh, bright smile, and kind spirit. She was a very generous and loving lady who will be missed by the many friends she made throughout her life's journey.
She is survived by an uncle, Charles E. Brining; a nephew, Cory Brining Fletcher; a niece, Emily Nevaeh Yost; a great nephew, Zadyn Charles Fletcher; a great niece, Alexis Noelle Fletcher; cousins, Eva M. Kemper, Amy M. Taylor, and Shelley Smith; a special friend Mark McAfee; and her friend and caregiver, Barbara Iseminger.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
It was Krista's wish that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Emily's College Fund c/o Barbara Iseminger, 10837 Oak Valley Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
