Larry Raymond Younker

June 12, 1949 — December 15, 2017

Larry Raymond Younker, 68, Williamsport, Md, passed away after a courageously fought battle with cancer on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center.

Born in Hagerstown, Md on June 12, 1949, he was the son of Jane Barlett and the late Raymond "Whitey" Younker.

Larry graduated from South Hagerstown High School, class of 1967.

He retired from Holcim Cement, was a member of the Washington County Historical Society, Maryland Historical Trust, their home listed on the National Register for Historical Places with a conservation easement with the Maryland Environmental Trust and he had a passion for wildlife especially birds.

He was a good man who loved a good debate, Navy Veteran, staunch Republican with a strong faith in God, who loved his country, his family and his friends.

In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 24 years, Patricia Hershberger Younker; a son, Eric Younker (Michelle); granddaughter, Ericah; and his faithful companion, his dog: "Doc Younker".

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The family would like to thank Lelia Boudreaux, Larry Eyler and Mike Harbaugh for their constant visits, phone calls and concern. A special thank you to Dr. Victoria Giffi.
