Lawrence William (Bill) Scally, age 74, of Hagerstown passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Doey's House, Hagerstown, MD. Born September 21, 1950, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late John Leonard Scally and Edna Elizabeth (Rephann) Scally.

 Bill graduated from South Hagerstown High School, class of 1969. In Bill's early career he worked for Steffey-Findlay, Hoffman Chevrolet, Rice Brothers Construction, The Broad Axe, and the Washington County Permits and Inspections Department. An avid outdoorsman, Bill worked part-time for Whitehall Gun Exchange, where he learned the gun-smithing trade from Harry Temple. He opened his own gun shop, the Arrow and Bullet, in 1982. Bill was forced to close his shop in 2021 due to declining health. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, North American Rod and Gun Club, Izaak Walton League, Washington County Civil Defense, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

 He is survived by brothers John Edward, Severna Park, MD; Robert Leo, Manassas, VA; Thomas Richard, Spring Mill, WV; Louis Joseph and Daniel Leonard, both of Hagerstown, MD. 

The family will receive guests to honor and remember Bill on Friday, October 18, 2024, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD.

 In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Doey's House, Hospice of Washington County.
