Leon Frederick Mikolajski, 81, of Maugansville, Md., passed away, Friday, August 27, 2021 at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center, Hagerstown, Md.
Born December 6, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey he was the son of the late, Samuel and Jean (Lorence) Mikolajski.
Leon retired as a machinist for Mack Truck, Hagerstown.
He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen Organization. In addition to his love of flying he was a vintage car enthusiast and an avid golfer.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara J. (Byron) Mikolajski; three children, David W. Mikolajski and wife, Julia of Maugansville, Elizabeth J. McQuaid and husband, Daniel of Hagerstown and Christine A. Pike and husband, James of Somerset, Wisconsin; one brother, Dennis Mikolajski and wife, Mary of East Brunswick, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Samuel E. McQuaid, Ellen J. McQuaid, Ethan B. Pike and Zachary J. Pike; two step grandchildren, Gregory and Andrew Pheabus and five great grandchildren, Phoebe and Riley McQuaid, Jackson, Vera and Leilani Phoebus.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Reformed Church,13182 Salem Church Rd., Hagerstown with Pastor Eric Cox officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Leon's name to the Salvation Army, P.O.Box 747, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
