Leon W. "Sonny" Hassler

Leon William "Sonny" Hassler, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Friday, September 22, 2023 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born September 11, 1940 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Charles and Eva Elizabeth (Shoemaker) Hassler. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wiffe of 54 years, Violet Rebecca "Becky" (Blubaugh) Hassler.

Mr. Hassler attended the Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown.

He retired from the City of Hagerstown as a service technician with the Water Department with 42 years of service.

Mr. Hassler is survived by three children, Sandy B. Shrader and husband, Eddie, Jr.,Steven D. Hassler and wife, Jackie and Scott A. Hassler and wife, Diane; three grandchildren, Andy Shrader, Matthew Hassler and wife, Logan and Taylor Hassler; three step grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Shawn Bushman officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Sonny's name to the Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740
