Lois Ann Barnes, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away, Friday, April 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born November 5, 1932, in Fairfax, Va. she was the daughter of the late, John A. and Evelyn Virginia (Cornwell) Tanner. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard Lee Barnes, Sr., one sister, Jackie Mullins, a nephew, Ken Kidwell, two brothers-in law, Bill Barnes, and Jake Barnes.

Mrs. Barnes was a graduate of Mt. Ranier High School, Prince Georges County and retired from Bank of America where she worked as a bank teller.

She is survived by three children, Richard L. Barnes, Jr. (Teresa), Russel A. Barnes and Robin Ann Shoemaker (Robert, Sr.); five grandchildren, Robert Shoemaker,Jr. (Rebecca), Jennifer Shoemaker, Christopher Barnes (Marilisse), Kerry Norton and Kandi Donivan (Russel); nine great grandchildren, Dimitri Hare-Barnes, Ashlyn Norton, Caleb Barnes, Evan Norton, Jailyn Hill-Barnes, Ronin Donivan, Emilia Barnes, Barrett Shoemaker and Calvin Shoemaker; one great-great grandson, Wesley Thorpe; one brother, Ray Tanner (Mikayla) and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Lee Brumback officiating

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lois's name to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
