Lois Virginia Henry of Greencastle, PA passed away on January 14, 2022, surrounded by her family after a long and joyous life.
Mrs. Henry was born to Guy and Elva Mason in Martinsburg, WV, on July 21, 1928 and spent most of her childhood years in Cumberland, MD where she graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1946. She married William Earl Henry of Hagerstown that same year and remained married to him for 71 years until his death in 2017. She resided in Hagerstown from 1946 until 2017 when she moved to Greencastle, PA under the loving care of her daughter.
Mrs. Henry was an executive secretary for Fairchild Aircraft for over 40 years retiring in 1992 and previously employed at the offices of doctors Allen and Layman of Hagerstown. Lois loved family activities and participated in numerous family cruises over the past 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, card clubs, puzzles and duckpin bowling for many years. At one time, she and her husband owned, raised and trained horses for racing. She was a member of The Christ Reformed Church of Hagerstown which has been her husband’s family church for over one hundred years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, William Earl Henry, her parents Elva and Guy Mason, her brothers Gordon Mason of Hagerstown, Harold Mason of Pensacola FL, Guy Wayne Mason of New York City, and Wallace Mason of Williamsport, MD. Lois is also preceded in death by her daughters-in-laws, Suzanne and Linda Henry, both of Hagerstown, an ex-son-in-law, Thomas Tullgren, Sr. of Weare, NH, a granddaughter, Cristy Jean Henry of Greencastle, PA, and great grandson, Joshua Henry of Hagerstown.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Cheryl South, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Greencastle, PA, and three sons, William Henry, Jr. and Craig Henry of Hagerstown, and Lawrence Henry and his wife Crystal of Greencastle. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A wake gathering will be at the Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, Thursday evening, January 20th, from 6 to 8 P.M.. The interment service will be Friday, January 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel.
