Lynn Franklin Meyers

Lynn Franklin Meyers, 90 (years old), of Hagerstown, Md., departed this life to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2025.

He was born on June 27, 1934, to Beulah I. Meyers and William L. Meyers.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean LaFollette Meyers, whom he married on September 8, 1956; sons, Stephen Lynn Meyers, Christopher Lynn Meyers, and Andrew William Meyers; four grandchildren, Jennifer Meyers, Lauren Marie Meyers, Cameron Meyers, and Kyle Meyers.

Lynn was a graduate of the 1952 class of Hagerstown High School, The Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Maryland Law School.

After graduating from law school, he served as a clerk to Judge Stedman Prescott of the Maryland Court of Appeals. Upon completion of his clerkship, he and his wife, Shirley, returned to Hagerstown where he opened his law office on July 1, 1960.

In 1963 he was invited to join Charles and John Wageman, forming a partnership of Wageman, Wagemen & Meyers. Later, the firm was incorporated under the name of Meyers, Young and Grove, P.A.

Mr. Meyers retired from the firm, June 30, 2015 after practicing law for fifty-six years, specializing in estate planning and administration.

Mr. Meyers had a passionate love of bass fishing locally and elsewhere. He strongly practiced “catch and release”, always treating each fish with respect and releasing it after giving a little peck, to live another day.

He was a life member of the Potomac Fish & Game Club, the Fountain Head Country Club, the National Rifle Association, Exchange Club of Hagerstown, and the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Horizon Goodwill Industries, serving on the board of the last two.

He was a devoted member for more than seventy years of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as a chair and member of several of the Committees and the Men’s Choir. He and his wife sang on the Senior Choir of the church for many years.

Mr. Meyers initially formed the word and witness Sunday School at St. Johns where he and others taught for many years.

Later, he and his wife faithfully attended the Longmeadow Church of Brethren locally.

Mr. Meyers, in his early years, delivered sermons at various churches in the area as well as at St. John’s and Longmeadow Church periodically.

A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, on March 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Longmeadow Church of the Brethren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either the two churches noted above and to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13001 Maugansville, Rd., Hagerstown, Maryland.
