Mamie Viola Harnish, 74, formerly of Hagerstown, passed from this earth on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She remained at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 14, 1940, in Leetown, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Fulkner Fiddler and Mamie Viola (Johnson) Fiddler.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown. She was a member of the Eagles, Owl and Moose Lodges. Mamie spent many years bowling with her family at the local bowling alleys. Mamie spent her days not only being a homemaker but also as a housekeeper for many area residents.
She is survived by one son, Earl Ray Eckard, Jr. and wife Linda of Williamsport; three daughters, Linda Sylvester and Fiancé Eugene Weller, Jr. of Greencastle, Brenda Baker and husband Robert of Hagerstown and Tina Eichelberger and husband Raymond of Hagerstown; one brother, Kenneth Fiddler of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary Dowler, Shirley Howe and Marie Davis, all of Hagerstown; ten grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Ray Eckard, Sr., second husband, Robert Mundey and most recent husband, Thomas Harnish, Jr., a grandson, Raymond Eichelberger III,; four brothers, Mahalon, Herman, Bobby and Marion Fiddler; five sisters, Violet Fiddler, Daisy Clipp, Margaret Crosgrove, Helen Gettle and Mildred Fiddler.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Dr. Larry Rickard officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M.
