Margarete H. Lange-Davis, 93, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023at Leland of Laurel Run Personal Care.
Born on December 25, 1929, in Altstrunz, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Otto Lange and Bernaslava Schipschak-Lange of Germany. Her family in Germany called her “Grettle”. Her late husband lovingly called her “Maggie” and when she arrived in the United States, everyone called her Margaret.
Margarete came to the United States in the 1960’s. She was a full-time homemaker and spent her life loving her family. She loved to cook. Until her health no longer permitted, Margarete enjoyed knitting, reading, working in yard and telling stories of the many places she lived and traveled as a military wife.
When Margarete arrived in the States, she and her family lived on a street named Park Place with her husband’s family (the late James R. and Lela Snively-Davis). Her husband soon enlisted for another tour in Vietnam and Margarete and her children continued to live in Park Place. During those years, the household were members of the Second Christian Church. Margarete’s memory of her days in Park Place always brought a smile to her face, a sparkle to her eyes and numerous fond memories she enjoyed sharing. She held onto the memories for as long as she could. In 1998, while recuperating from a stroke, Margarete she re-dedicated her life to Christ.
Margarete is survived by her son Chester E. Davis Jr., of Hagerstown, grandsons Chase E.W.-Davis of Hagerstown, and Tyler E. Sterling of Alexandria, VA. and son-in-law John Sterling. She is also survived by the Sterling Family who loved her very much and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Margarete was preceded in death by her husband Chester E. Davis Sr., infant son Sterling Davis and daughters Beatrice “Bea” L. Davis and Nicole “Nicci” B. Sterlin; parents, Alfred Otto Lange, Bernaslava (Brumstaroa) Schipschak-Lange, brother Horst, sister Kristen and an infant brother.
Special thank you to The Sterling family, Leland of Laurel Run, Grane Hospice Care, The Sister Circle, Caregivers and to everyone for you acts of kindness, support, and prayers. Margarete blessed everyone with her kindness and the Lord showed His Favor and made sure her last years were made comfortable and that she was surrounded by family and friends who loved and cared for her.
