Mary Elizabeth "Pinky" Bergman, 77, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1935, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Leslie Alfred and Edna Blanche (Custer) Schetrompf.
Mary was a former member of Hagerstown Eagles Club and Hagerstown Red Men. She loved yard sales, thrift stores and bargain hunting. She was an excellent seamstress and did alterations by hand.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Knox; and her second husband, Eugene T. Bergman.
She is survived by six children, son, Howard C. Knox and wife, Bev; daughter, Edna Pearl Taylor and husband, Tom; son, Norman Knox and wife, Diane; son, Dennis Wayne Knox and wife, Barb; son, Timothy Earl Knox and wife, Jane; and daughter, Stacey Knox and husband, Sam; three sisters, Martha, Louise and Ester; a brother, David; five half sisters; one half brother; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, Johnny and Paul; two sisters, Annabell and Ruth; and a granddaughter, Tammy Shives.
A funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel.
