Mary Elizabeth Gross, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born March 17, 1928, in Leesburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Mildred Taylor.
She had worked as a housekeeper for several families.
Mary was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church; Jonathan Street American Legion; and Jonathan Street Elks Lodge 278.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Leon "Babe" Gross Sr.
Mary is survived by a son, Clarence Leon Gross Jr. and wife, Thea; and two daughters, Patricia A. Gross and Mildred Ford, all of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Airey Smith, Jeremy Gross, Ikea Smith, Justin Gross and Richard G. Loudin III; three stepgrandsons, Richard G. Loudin III, Mark W. Washington and Jamal H.T. Brown; three great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one on the way.
In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Taylor; and a sister, Emma Briscoe.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jamol Cooper officiating.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
