Mary McCarthy O'Flaherty

Mary McCarthy O'Flaherty, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away, Monday, March 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born February 21, 1929 in Stretford, Manchester, England, she was the daughter of the late, William and Elizabeth (Maple) McCarthy. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, John Edward O'Flaherty.
Mrs. O'Flaherty was a faithful wife, loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown, The Cosmos and International Ladies Club. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, shopping, singing, socializing and crocheting.
She is survived by two children, Teresa Baugher (William) of New Bern, NC and Paul O'Flaherty (Joann) of Hagerstown; one brother, Anthony McCarthy of Wales, UK; one sister, Margaret Norman of Australia; nine grandchildren, Laura Key (Allen), Jennifer Recktenwald (William), Linda Malone (Dennis), Jonathan Baugher, Paige Rogers (Justin), Josette Barry (George), Aidan O'Flaherty, Mary Lynne Moore and Aileen Heberer; eighteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother in law, James O'Flaherty (Blanche) of Blackpool, UK and sister in law, Irene O'Flaherty of Manchester, UK.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Monsignor J. Bruce Jarboe officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the St. Anthony's Guild,144 W. 32nd St., NY, NY 10001-3202 if preferred
