Melinda "Linda" Susan Shumaker

Melinda “Linda” Susan Shumaker, 62, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Hershey, PA.

Born on July 6, 1962 in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of Shirley Ann and Raymond L. Earle. She was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, class of ‘81.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Percy Shumaker, Jr; father, Raymond Earle; and mother and father-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” and Percy Shumaker, Sr.

She had a deep love for her family. Linda looked forward to vacations with them, and adored long walks on the beach. Always beautiful, it was a pleasure for her to have her hair and nails done. An avid gardener, she was known for her green thumb, having a yard blooming with vibrant flowers and plants. She loved music, and you could often find her rocking out to her favorite band, Queen. Bubba, the cat, held a special place in her heart.

Linda is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Michaela Shumaker; son, Percy Shumaker, III; sister and best friend, Debbie Ashton and husband Bill; brothers, Rob Lucas, Mike, and Bill; mother, Shirley Earle; nephew’s Chris and Brandon Ashton, Jamie, and Brad; niece Tonya, as well as many in-law’s and friends.

Linda courageously battled breast cancer for many years and is an inspiration for so many. She will be dearly missed. Her memory will be a comfort to us all.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with a viewing one-hour prior, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.
