Michael Ellis "Mike" Hollingsworth, 65, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center. Born August 7, 1951 in Nebraska, he was the son of the late Louise White. Mike was raised in Ft. Worth, TX., by his late grandmother (who he called "Grandmother Crawford") and graduated from Como High School. He served in the United States Army, where he retired as a supervisor in telecommunications after 20 years. Mike was stationed in Camp David and Fort Ritchie and served several tours in Germany and Korea. He was a member of Full Life Family Ministry in Hagerstown; BPO Elks #278 in Hagerstown; James E. Stewart Lodge No. 49 F.&A.M. in New Market, MD; American Legion Post No. 30 in Omaha, NE.; and the A.E.A.O.N.M.S. Faisal #192. Mike will be remembered as a great joke and story teller. He had a love of basketball, stemming from playing in school and in the Army. He was a movie buff and lived life to its fullest! Mike is survived by his loving fianc and caregiver, Teresa McCall; three daughters, Michelle Harris, Shuana Hollingsworth, both of TX, Nicole Sutherland and husband William of VA.; a son, Jonathon Bohannon of CA; a sister, Beverly Frazier of NE.; a brother, Joseph Fitzgerald; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; longtime army buddies, Jerry Diggs, Conrad Robinson, Herbert Ruffin, and Danny Dean; childhood friend, Larry Haynes; his barber and special friend, Carlos Davis; and a host of relatives and friends. In addition to his mother, he is also preceded death by a daughter, Shalonda Pierce; and three brothers, Julius, Ted and Ellery Fitzgerald. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Paul Berry officiating.
